Fun with domain hack

Not the exploiting kind, domain hack refers to the use of top-level (TLD) domain to spell out a name or text. Most of us have gotten used to the conventional domain extensions such as .com, .net, .org, your country’s domain extension, and unfortunately spammed to death by .info and .us domains. Some of you might want to register a domain either for personal use or commercial use but nowadays almost every known words or catchy text has been registered, either by genuine owners or by scummy cybersquatters.

Fear not my friends, there’s a solution to your problem. With the help of Domainr you can now search for a name that may be even more catchy than your normal and typical .com names. For those of you who uses Twitter I’m sure you have seen or even used bit.ly or tr.im URL shortening service before, these two domains uses domain hack to shorten their names and make it more memorable. How about the famous social bookmarking service such as del.icio.us? Yup, it’s a domain hack too! Even Google have one at goo.gl! Before you go crazy and starts registering do keep in mind that some countries TLD requires certain requirements like local presence, a local company, local contact person, copyrights, etc. Some registrar will help facilitate such service for an extra fee and some domain extensions are more expensive than others.

Good luck and have fun with it, I’ve just registered myself a Serbian extension domain name lol
