Entropion surgery on Siew Pao

Speed buy Though a bit late but as promised an update on Siew Pao’s entropion condition. She had her eye surgery on the 5th of March, unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the surgery as I was stuck in an important meeting. My wife took her there, to be honest I was a bit worried as the lady vet mentioned this was her 1st entropion operation and she probably is the only vet in the whole of Ho Chi Minh City able to do it. That scares me, partly because it was her 1st but mostly the lack of quality vets in Vietnam. I just pray my Chows will remain healthy!

Anyway, Siew Pao is doing excellently well now, healthy, playful and extremely greedy. You won’t believe the amount of poo she can discharge from her small body! Even Bear Bear can’t poo that much! I find that she’s a bit reserved when it comes to human contact, she’s always very wary of her environment but we’re slowly gaining her trust. Nowadays she will jump on my bed and lay beside me but I try to discourage her from doing so… imaging if she were to have her 1st period (which is probably soon!), yuck!

My Chow chow puppy just had surgery to correct entropion, too. I just wanted to say thanks for the pictures and I hope Siew Pao recovery goes well.

Thanks Amanda! Siew Pao is doing well right now though you can clearly see she had an eye operation due to a slight deformity on her lower eye lid. Probably due to the inexperience of the vet but we’re still thankful Siew Pao came out well and healthy and able to use her left eye again!

My chow is also in need of a surgery for entropion. but according to my vet, unfortunately, my chow has some kind of parasite living in her body that is very difficult to cure. and according to her (and from what i know), that to undergo a surgery it is preferable that the chow is healthy. argh… i tried every thing i know to get rid of the parasite but so far no luck. I gave her medication once with the recommended dose but she turned a bit yellowish. Since i though it might have been related to her liver, I stopped the medication right away. Giving her lower dose for a shortened period only helps to overcome the symptom (itch mainly) but will not really kill the parasite. I’m so sad to see her eyes, but as much as I want her eyes to be corrected, i’d rather have her have entropion than liver failure.
