Photos from Panyu

As promised, time to upload some photos taken from my China trip.. only food! First on the list is a meal at after crossing Zhuhai border, feeling extremely hungry we opted for a quick lunch at a fast food chain called Kungfu, set lunch with chicken soup, rice, veggies and sliced mushrooms :

The Ranch ipod
The night after we went for a famous eatery place in Panyu for dinner, had bone marrow soup (they even gave you some straws to suck the goodness from the bones!), the usual veggies, goose meat, BBQ pork, fish, and … snake meat. Sorry but no photos, forgot to take them, was too busy eating!

The next day we went for seafood, my favorite! It’s always an eye opener to view fresh lively aquatic creatures in their tank, especially in China as you’re sure to see some unusual creatures:

First photo shows the usual clams, mussels, etc. The bloody flesh on top of the Styrofoam box is actually a fish head, sliced perfectly in half. The second and third photos contain pictures of fishes, duh!

snake-like fish Flat looking fish I ate this!

I’m not quite sure what type of fishes are those, first photo shows dozens of slimy snake-like or eel-like creatures. Each of them are about 12inches in length. The other two photos shows rather flat looking fishes, we had the 3rd fish for dinner and I must admit it’s pretty good, the meat is very smooth with little bit of sweetness, yummy!

Big mussels 1 Big mussels 2

I’m not sure if these guys can be categorized as mussels or not but they are blardy huge! Each of them is almost half the size of my arm! We didn’t try these guys, they look awfully familiar though, girls, any comments? :)

Definitely the highlight dish of the night, my friend keep insisting that we try something new, a dish that’s not available in Malaysia. And it had to be bugs! We’ve tried roasted grasshoppers in Thailand but these juicy looking bugs takes the cake.

Feeling brave I took one of them, a good look at the dead insect and off it goes into my mouth. I can’t really explain how it taste like, as much as I would like to say it tasted like chicken but it doesn’t! I had one and that’s enough for experience sake! My friend though (on the 3rd photo) down at least 4 of them!

Dim Sum

And finally the day before we depart for Vietnam, we had some dim sum breakfast at a famous historical dim sum restaurant in Guangzhou. We checked-out quite early in the morning from Panyu to Guangzhou and had hope to maybe pay a visit to their local Zoo and catch a few glimpse of Pandas, unfortunately we were informed that to see Pandas we have to go to Sichuan or Chengdu :(
