Season two ended

Another great season for Hanabishi United! Not only did they finished as runners up in the XFA Premier League in their first season but also ended on a high note by claiming the XFA League Cup by defeating the defending Champion Nick Brown’s Yorkshire Tykes after both home and away games for both sides ended in similar 1-1 score. A nail biting penalty shoot out ensured and Iker Casillas performed marvelously with 3 penalty kicks saves.

Here’s a screen capture of the winning XFA League Cup team! This one’s for the history book.
The youth team also did the club proud by winning the XFA Youth League. They barely made it to the play off after finishing behind Yorkshire Tykes’ younglings in 2nd place. In the playoff stage they won with 4-2 aggregate against title contender Gary Town FC courtesy of a strong performance at home at which they won with 2-0 scoreline.
In the final it was a meeting yet again against Yorkshire Tykes! (They seem to be everywhere!). It was a two legged final with Hanabishi United playing on home ground on the 1st leg. It was a nervy encounter with the visitor controlling 61% possession but they couldn’t break through Hanabishi’s resolute defence and the match ended with a 0-0 stalemate. The return leg again sees the Tykes controlling much of the possession and as the match looks to be heading toward a penalty shootout Hanabishi’s young substitute striker, Edson Nunes, took his chance well and scored the winner on the 89th minute. Hanabishi United’s Manager, Martin Jr, was also among the crowd that day and you can see his face beaming with joy with his youngsters as he claps furiously.
